August 2008Special Toys for Special Kids
The 15th edition of the Toys“R”Us “Toy Guide for Differently-Abled Kids” is now available. It offers a wide variety of toy options categorized with symbols indicating the developmental areas the toy promotes, such as social skills, auditory, creativity, self-esteem and language. Recommendations are based on research by the National Lekotek Center, an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to make playing more accessible for kids with disabilities. The guide includes tips for buyers on purchasing the right toy and also testimonials from other parents. View the online catalog and hear a message from supporter Maria Shriver, disabilities advocate and first lady of California.
